What is the a Hard-to-Borrow Stock?

Stock Market Terms explained as simple as possible

QUICK ANSWER

Hard-to-borrow stocks are stocks where there are shares available they often have an extra borrowing fee on them.

Having access to hard-to-borrow stocks depends on your broker. Please note that sometimes shares to short can get very scarce. In some cases, you may even have to reserve shares you want to short before the trading day starts. The borrowing fee will already apply by reserving them whether you trade them or not.
